TRIzol® Reagents are ready-to-use, monophasic solutions of phenol and guanidine isothiocyanate suitable for isolating total RNA, DNA, and proteins (1-6). Isolation procedures are based upon improvements to the single-step RNA isolation method developed by Chomczynski and Sacchi (1) and are completed in less than one hour.TRIzol® Reagent:
* Is designed for use with tissues or cells
* Uses 1 ml of reagent to isolate total RNA from 100 mg of tissue or 107 cells
TRIzol® LS Reagent:
* Is designed for use with liquid samples such as serum and virus preparations
* Uses a TRIzol® LS Reagent:liquid sample ratio of 3:1
* Uses 0.75 ml to isolate total RNA from 5 x 106 cells
TRIzol® Max™ Bacterial RNA Isolation Kit:
* Is designed for use with bacterial samples
* Increases total RNA yields from bacteria by 3 times
* Works with Gram+ and Gram- bacteria
* Includes Max Bacterial Enhancement Reagent to eliminate mechanical and enzymatic lysis procedures
* Isolates total RNA in minimal time-Max Bacterial Enhancement Reagent procedure adds only 5 minutes to the TRIzol® Reagent procedure

Performance and Quality Testing: RNA and DNA are isolated and qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed in gel electrophoresis. RNA is analyzed by northern blot analysis. DNA is tested in restriction endonuclease digestion.

TRIzol® and TRIzol® LS Reagents include the indicated amount of reagent. The TRIzol® Max™ Bacterial RNA Isolation Kit contains TRIzol® Reagent and Max Bacterial Enhancement Reagent. Store at 2°C to 8°C.
